All applications submitted to the Directory of Islamic Journals (DIsJ) undergo a rigorous and transparent evaluation process. DIsJ assigns specialized editors to assess whether a journal meets the high standards required for indexing.

  1. Rigorous Editorial Assessment. Upon successful submission, the journal will be assigned to a DIsJ Editor. The evaluation focuses on administrative completeness, ethical compliance, and the journal’s contribution to the OIC scientific landscape.
  2. Evaluation Timelines (Standard of Efficiency). DIsJ adheres to strict internal deadlines to ensure fairness and prevent administrative delays for applicants:
    • Submission to First Decision (Maximum 30 Days): DIsJ will provide an initial confirmation and administrative screening result within 30 days of the application date.
    • Review and Evaluation Period (Maximum 180 Days): Once the application is confirmed, the formal review process begins. While duration may vary based on complexity, the total evaluation period will not exceed 180 days.
    • Final Decision to Indexing (Maximum 30 Days): If a journal is accepted for indexing, it will be officially listed on the DIsJ portal within a maximum of 30 days from the final decision.
  3. Post-Indexing Compliance and Periodic Evaluation
  4. Accepted journals are legally and ethically bound to uphold the “DIsJ Compliance & Ethical Standards.” DIsJ will conduct periodic evaluations based on the journal’s publication frequency to ensure sustained quality and integrity.
  5. Appeals and Re-application Policy
    • Appeals: If an application is rejected, the publisher has the right to file an appeal within 30 days of the rejection notice.
    • Embargo for Improvements: If the appeal period expires or the appeal is unsuccessful, the journal will enter a 6-month embargo period. This time is intended for the journal to implement the necessary improvements before becoming eligible for re-application.
