Guide to Applying

  1. Eligible Journal Categories: DIsJ is dedicated to strengthening the Islamic Digital Sovereignty by indexing scholarly journals published within OIC Member States. We accept two primary categories:
    • Islamic Studies: Journals focusing on any Islamic discipline (e.g., Sharia, Islamic Finance, Theology).
    • Multidisciplinary Research: Journals from all scientific fields (e.g., Engineering, Medicine, Social Sciences) published by institutions or publishers based in OIC countries.
  2. Language and Publication Model: DIsJ is inclusive of all languages used within the OIC region. We accept Open Access, Subscription, or Hybrid models, provided that the article metadata is transparently accessible for indexing.
  3. Ethical Governance: Journals must strictly adhere to the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing. Clear policies on plagiarism, peer review, and conflict of interest are mandatory to maintain the integrity of OIC scholarship.
  4. Minimum Publication Volume: To ensure sustainability and active contribution to the OIC knowledge base, journals must publish a minimum of 10 scholarly articles per year.
  5. Provisions for New Journals: Newly launched journals within the OIC region may apply after publishing at least one (1) issue containing no fewer than five (5) scholarly articles.

Journal Website Requirements

  1. Active Presence: The journal must maintain a fully functional and active website.
  2. Accessibility: Every published article must have a dedicated URL, HTML, or at least a downloadable PDF version.
  3. Language Consistency: While journals may use any language, multilingual websites must ensure that information provided is consistent across all language versions.
  4. Information Transparency: The following information must be clearly visible and easily accessible on the website:
    • Aims and Scope
    • Editorial Board (with clear institutional affiliations)
    • Author Guidelines
    • Editorial Policies (including Peer Review process)
    • Licensing and Copyright Terms
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy (usage guidelines for authors/editors)
    • Author Fees (Transparency of Charges): Journals must explicitly state all potential costs, including:
      • Submission fees, Editorial processing fees, and Article Processing Charges (APC).
      • Page charges or Color charges (if applicable)
      • Withdrawal penalties/fines for articles retracted after submission
      • Waiver Policy: Information regarding discounts or waivers for authors from low-income countries, international collaborations, or specific geographic segments.
    • Publisher Information:
      • Full name and physical address of the publisher, including a link to the publisher’s website (if available).
      • Direct contact information (Email, Phone, or WhatsApp) for the editorial office or contact person.
  5. Digital Archiving and Preservation
    • Long-term Access: The journal must have a clear digital archiving policy to ensure long-term access to the published content.
    • Preservation Systems: Journals are encouraged to utilize established digital preservation services (such as LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or Portico) or credible national/institutional repositories.
    • Identity Identifiers: Each article is strongly encouraged to have a Persistent Identifier (e.g., DOI – Digital Object Identifier) to ensure stable and permanent linking.

ISSN Requirements

  1. Valid Registration: The journal must possess at least one valid ISSN (Print or Online) registered and confirmable via the official ISSN.org portal.
  2. Website Display: The ISSN must be clearly displayed on the journal’s website (usually in the header, footer, or ‘About’ section)
  3. Title Consistency: The journal title displayed on the website must strictly match the official title registered in the ISSN database to ensure data integrity and avoid indexing errors
  4. Journal Title Changes:
    • New ISSN Registration: If a journal undergoes a title change, the publisher must register a new ISSN in accordance with international standards.
    • Mandatory Reporting: Any title changes must be formally reported to DIsJ with supporting documentation. This ensures that the journal’s previous publication history remains preserved, linked, and accurately integrated within the indexing database.
